Blogging Holiday

I have been overwhelmed by the success of my work so far. In just three short months of blogging, my site has received 123,424 unique visitors, and nearly 150,000 views so far.

I could never have imagined reaching so many people. This is mostly due to four posts that were shared so widely, it might be considered that they went ‘viral’.

They are listed below, most popular first:

Teaching: a ‘family unfriendly’ profession

An apology to my autistic students

A Small Thing

To my son: your stimming is beautiful

I apologise for the sitcom style ‘episode that is just lots of clips from old episodes’ post – but as the title suggests, I am taking a short holiday from blogging. I hope for no more than a few weeks.

There are several reason for this. I started blogging as I love writing and found composing my thoughts to be very therapeutic during difficult times. However, success is a double edged sword and the pressure of finding new material that is good enough to maintain my standards is a little daunting. I want to make sure I continue blogging the things I really want to talk about – and not just post because of the pressure to create new material.  I also need to take time in my personal life to sort out some things, spend more time with my children, and improve my health which has been quite poor for the last few months.

In the meantime, I hope new visitors to my site might give some of the posts above a look. If you came to my site due to finding one of the posts above, take a look at one of the others.

Thank you – see you in a few weeks.

P.s The picture is totally unrelated. It’s just a nice picture of my part of the world.

I have been there and cobbled a post together that didn’t really make my heart sing so I think you are right to take your inspiration break. Enjoy!

  7. I absolutely agree. You can completely tell when a blog has been written just because, rather than because the writer was inspired. A few weeks off will do you the world of good and re-inspire you. I plan to do the same myself in the near future. #bigpinklink
