The (Not Big or Fat) Quiz of the Year

The (Not Big or Fat) Quiz of the Year

I am a little late with this but some lovely bloggers including Becci from To Aufinity and Beyond, Leanne from A Slice of my Life Wales and Jenni from Chilling with Lucas tagged me. Here is my Not Big or Fat Quiz of the Year.

The (Not Big or Fat) Quiz of the Year

What was your highlight of 2016?

I guess I should say creating a blog that has become so successful so quickly. But, in truth, that’s not the best part. It’s the things the blog has done for me that are the real highlight. It has allowed me to come to terms with an autism diagnosis that had put me in a very bad place. It has allowed me to give up a job that was draining the joy out of my life, even though I still had passion for my students and subjects. I have also made some wonderful friends. I feel pretty lucky to have had those things happen.

Name one thing you are most likely to remember about 2016 if asked in five years time?

I guess I will remember that it was bittersweet. Lots of positive things have happened for me personally, and Biggest seems on the right track now. But the world has become a very scary place. My feelings on the events are pretty much summed up in ‘The result is the result. So stop Complaining’ (though don’t be fooled by the title).

On a more personal level, I lost a very beloved grandmother, relatively suddenly, to leukaemia. I don’t think there is any way I will be able to look back at 2016 and not remember that pain, not feel her loss keenly.

Sum up 2016 in one word.

Bittersweet

Name one pearl of wisdom from 2016 that you will carry with you through 2017.

I am slowly learning to accept things I can’t change, worry less, and focus on making a positive impact on what I can change.

Do you have any new year resolutions?

I need to get fit and lose weight. This is my biggest priority as two pregnancies with gestational diabetes means I am high risk for type 2, and my current weight is increasing this risk.

I also hope the blog will keep growing to allow me to continue staying at home with the children. Biggest starts school in September to I really want to cherish this time.

How are you seeing in the new year?

For the first time in ten years we were in with just me and Matt. We usually visit very good friends but we felt it would be too much for Biggest as we had been travelling so much over Christmas. It was still very pleasant. He cooked a three-course meal for me, so can’t complain!

What would you most like to do in 2017?

I would love to continue to get wonderful opportunities for me and my family through the blog. I would really love to get my book finished – but I don’t see that happening as it has taken a few years to get just over half way!

What are your main goals for 2017?

  • To maintain a healthy weight
  • To exercise regularly
  • Increase traffic to Someone’s Mum
  • To continue building all aspects of the blog
  • Keep raising autism awareness and acceptance
  • To get an EHCP in place and a school place ready for Biggest.

I would like to tag the following great blogs for this post:

Toby and Roo, Hibaby blog, Pushing the Moon, Twinderelmo, Emma and 3, Monkey and Mouse, All About a Mini Norris, Life with Baby Kicks, Pink Pear Bear, and The Love of a Captain.
