Sleeping soundly with an Emma Mattress

When my husband and I got married, we had to decide what to do with the money that we received from well-wishers. My top choice was a new bed and mattress. He was sceptical. That’s a lot of money to spend on a bed! I mean just think what we could do with it! 

However, I was confident that a sound sleep would be one of the best things we could invest in, and my goodness was I proved right. When you are a parent to small children, good sleep, when you can get it, is a huge priority. We chose an expensive memory foam mattress that suited me a little more – he prefers slightly firmer. But, it served us well. That was nearly eight years ago…

Emma Mattress – The Verdict

I must admit, I was really nervous about replacing our old, faithful mattress. Beds are so personal, so present, so important in our everyday lives that a big change could spell disaster.

I needn’t have worried. In fact, I wish Emma had existed eight years ago. Not only was our sleep instantly better with an Emma mattress, it seems to cater for both our sleeping preferences. I prefer soft and yielding, he prefers a little more support. For eight years he has been putting up with a mattress that was slightly softer than his preference, just to please me.

I found our new mattress just as soft and sumptuous as its memory-foam-only predecessor. My husband found the pocket springs and supporting foam meant that it gave him more support than the old mattress did.

We have both been getting a full seven hour sleep (children notwithstanding), without a single unexplained wake-up, for the first time in many years. I assumed that you got to a certain age and it was usual to wake up two or three times a night, even when there was nothing obvious to wake you. Our Emma mattress has brought back the sleep of fifteen years ago. Deep, uninterrupted, refreshing sleep, right through until morning.

I must stress how impressed I am with this mattress. Emma sent us a mattress for the purposes of a review but we couldn’t have been happier had we searched for our own choice for months.

The Science Bit…

Emma use a special layered effect to ensure that their mattresses will mean a good night’s sleep for all.  They seek “maximum adaptability through the optimised combination of a decompressing, hypersoft-layer, pressure-relieving pocket springs, visco-elastic memory foam and a supporting layer of cold foam.”

I think that means an Emma mattress appeals to all because the varied properties of the different layers adapt to every sleeper’s need.

Either way, it works. If you are looking for a new mattress, I cannot recommend Emma highly enough.
