Three Ways to Enjoy Organic Milk with Arla

As parents, we spend a lot of time making sure everyone else is dressed, safe, happy and eating healthily. It can be a little tricky to remember to take care of yourself. There have been many days when it has got to lunchtime and I suddenly realise that I never got round to eating breakfast. The morning whizzes by in a blur of school runs and nursery drop-offs and dog walks…and then it is 12.10pm and I am starving. I am also really bad at making sure I drink regularly and stay hydrated. Sometimes, I only realise that I have not had much to drink all day when I get very thirsty. Recently, we have been trying out Arla Organic milk as a family and I have devised a few ways to make sure I eat and drink a little more regularly during the day.

Arla Organic Milk

Arla Organic Free Range milk is sourced from British farms, where all cows are free-range and grazed outside, on 100% organically farmed land. Organic milk guarantees no artificial fertilisers or herbicides are used. Arla also believe in higher animal welfare standards and sustainable farming. Organic milk comes with a guarantee of high sustainability and animal welfare standards. By choosing Arla products, you are   the farmers that own the Arla business. All the profits go straight back into the farmer’s pockets. They are the ones who put their care into making this nutritious and delicious milk.

Arla Organic is a wonderful addition for the whole family. It was even awarded Product of the Year in 2018. A 200 ml glass of semi-skimmed milk provides:

  • 74% of adults recommended daily Vitamin B12 (which contributes to normal function of the immune system)
  • 41% of our recommended daily iodine (which contributes to normal cognitive function)
  • 35% of our recommended daily Riboflavin (which contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue)
  • 16% of your recommended daily potassium (which contributes to maintenance of normal blood pressure)
  • 28% of our recommended daily phosphorus (contributes to maintenance of normal bones and teeth)
  • 14% of our recommended daily protein (which contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass)

I have only just discovered overnight oats. When you are really busy, forgetful (and if I am honest a little lazy), like me, they are a godsend. You can add chopped fruit, oats, milk and yoghurt to a jar or bowl, and in the morning just take it out of the fridge and eat it. You can also add a few treats like syrup or chocolate chips from time to time. This is perfect for me. I am always to busy making the children something to spend too much time on my breakfast in the morning. There is also a wealth of ideas and recipes on Pinterest to try. I have been enjoying my morning oats with organic milk a great deal.

Chilled Coffee

As the weather is heats up, iced coffee is such a nice way to cool down. It feels a little indulgent somehow but can actually be a really healthy snack. Coffee is not something I drink regularly. I like it, but I have to be in the right mood. I find I drink more and more iced coffee in the summer, however, as it is just so refreshing. The coffee shot just goes into the freezer until it is cool and then I add milk. You can freeze coffee into ice cubes and then just melt them with a little hot water and add ice-cold milk too.

Afternoon Tea

As soon as I have collected the children from school and nursery, they have a snack and a drink. It is a little moment of calm after the bustle of the school run and just before the evening routine begins. I have started treating myself to a little something in the afternoon too – a proper cup of tea with Arla Organic whole milk and a few low-fat biscuits on the side. This may seem like a relatively insignificant detail of my day, but it is actually lovely and so relaxing.

How do you take time for yourself as a parent?

Arla believe that organic milk should be available to everyone and their farmers take great pride in the product they produce. We have certainly loved using it over the last few weeks. You can enjoy Nature’s Best this spring with Arla Organic Milk,. It is available as whole milk or semi-skimmed in 2l bottles and can be found in several large supermarkets.

    1. Overnight oats are so delicious and refreshing with ice cold milk when you do not feel like hot meals in the hot weather!
