We have teamed up with BritMums and Scotch Kitchen to share one of our #FamilyFavourite Beef dishes. These beef fajitas are a huge hit in our household, as the kids always like to get involved in making their own wraps. The sauce is also great for kids as it is not spicy like some Fajita recipes. The sweet honey and garlic sauce is suitable for all.

You can use lean meat and pack your fajitas with vegetables to make this a healthy and satisfying meal for the whole family. This dish is also extremely easy to prepare, making it perfect for busy parents. You can find the recipe for our beef fajitas with honey and garlic sauce below.

Beef Fajitas with Honey and Garlic Sauce

Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 20 minutes
Serves: 2 adults and 2 children

Ingredients:

  • 1 orange and 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 red onion
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic (crushed)
  • 350 – 400g lean steak – we used fillet but other lean cuts will work just as well.
  • 100ml runny honey
  • 35mls light soy sauce
  • 25mls cider vinegar
  • 8 tortilla/wraps of your choice.

Optional:
Sour cream, guacamole, and salsa to add to fajitas.
We served our fajitas with salad and simple potato wedges.

Method:
For the sauce:

In a saucepan, heat 2 tbsps of olive oil. Add 3 cloves of crushed garlic to the oil. This means the cloves should be squashed to release the flavour, but not break apart, making it easy to remove them after cooking. Cook on a low heat for 3 minutes

Add the honey, light soy sauce and cider vinegar to the pan and bring to the boil. Reduce to medium heat and cook for 10 minutes.

For the fajitas:
Meanwhile, prepare the vegetables for the fajitas. Cut the peppers and onion into fairly chunky lengths Cut the beef into long strips. In a large pan, heat the remaining olive oil and add the onions. Once the onions are soft, add the beef and cook until the meat is browned.

Next, add the peppers and cook on medium heat until the meat is cooked through and the vegetables are soft. You may need to drain some of the liquid from the pan.

Finally, pour the honey and garlic sauce over the fajita mix, sprinkle with parsley if required, and serve. We used plain tortilla wraps for our fajitas but any round wraps will do.

And there you have it – a really quick and simple family meal that will please adults and little ones alike.
